You all are so great! It was a joy to get to be in "virtual" class with you and see everybody. After class I had a few thoughts I want to share:
I want to emphasize, it is okay to
keep it simple.
You all did great!
I would encourage you to
eep doing some icebreaker at the beginning of class
be sure to participate yourself
building community online can be challenging and the more you can provide the kids with opportunities to notice what they have in common, the better. It also helps them feel more comfortable with you.
You may also want to
review some simple rules
at the beginning of class. Related to your class and/or Zoom specific.
Let me know how I can best support you, before class and during class.
You can login to your class meeting using the
St. Mike credentials (firstname.lastname@example.org and Archangel1992!
). That way you will have the ability to screen share, see the waiting room and more. I will login that way too and can assume the responsibility of "managing" things so that you can teach and interact with the kids.
If you want the pages of the book shared, I can do that.
Just let me know.
I have prepared a Flocknote note for each of your classes. It contains some reminders for parents about what I expect of them as families who enrolled in the Catechist-Led option. In addition, it has your calendar with the Zoom link attached and a video on Zoom basics for kids.
On Friday I will send this to your families. However, IF you would like to add anything, you can get on Flocknote and edit the draft to include anything you want the parents to know from YOU! If you need more time to edit the email to your class, just reply to this email and let me know that and I will not send yours on Friday. If you have nothing to add, know that this information will be going to your class on Friday.
CATECHIST RESOURCE PAGE:
I have uploaded resources (and access to my latest Flocknotes to you all) to a catechist resource page. If at any point you want to look for Zoom ideas, support, my email archive, look here first. Go to
. In the bottom right corner there is a Youtube playlist embedded: Help for Your Virtual Classroom. If you need any Zoom help, or suggestions on how to manage teaching online, there are some great videos there.
As ALWAYS, if you have a question, need a helping hand, reach out to me. I am here to help!
