Our Defender Safety Series is a parish-wide initiative to empower the congregation and maintain a safe parish campus.
Weather Emergencies
In the past few years, our area has experienced multiple tornado warnings and an earthquake. It is vital that you DO NOT LEAVE the building during a weather emergency. The clergy or cantor will pause Mass and give instructions to shelter immediately. There are only two areas in the building without windows: Day Chapel and Education Wing.
Storm | Tornado Evacuate to the Day Chapel (most vulnerable) and the Education Wing. The Day Chapel is for people with wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and other physical impairments that keep them from safely moving to the Education Wing. All others go to the Education Wing. Close all classroom doors with windows and shelter in the hallway.
DO NOT shelter in the Worship Space, the Commons, or the Parish Hall.
Stay Away from all windows.
Earthquake Shelter under the pews or in corners. In case of an earthquake, shelter in place under the pews, in corners, and away from windows/unsecured structures.
DO NOT go outside after an earthquake.
Wait for further instructions from clergy, a staff member, or lead volunteer.
